In order to determine the potential hazards caused by heavy rain, heavy rain hazard maps were prepared on behalf of the Environmental Agency Frankfurt am Main. The cards contain two essential aspects: Maximum flood depth and maximum flow velocity. Both are the result of an “uncoupled hydraulic 2-D surface simulation”. The heavy rain hazard maps show places threatened by floods in Frankfurt am Main. This allows all interested parties to take appropriate precautionary measures.
