Reference genome of a Fennoscandian Reindeer. Reindeer genome

A new reference genome assembly was generated for the semi-domestic Fennoscandian reindeer. This assembly was constructed using data from shotgun sequencing and Chicago and Hi-C proximity ligation libraries. The Chicago library provided a physical coverage of 93.85X, while the Dovetail Hi-C library provided a physical coverage of 44,243.23X. The final assembly consisted of 2,663.35 Mb with 127,880 scaffolds, including 11,813 above 1 kb. The longest scaffold was 116,325,531 bp, with N50 and N90 scaffold lengths of 38.508 Mb and 69.739 Mb, respectively. A total of 32,721 genes were identified in the assembly, spanning 32,201,636 bp, with an average length of 984 base pairs. Among these, 1,694 were single-exon genes. The genome contained about 35.52% of repeats, with Class I transposable elements (TEs) comprising 30% and Class II TEs making up 1.71%.
