1. A grassland on the west side of the campus was chosen. 2. A belt transect was placed along the grassland. 3. Using binoculars, birds were sought and an estimate of the distance between the bird and the observer was noted. This was done for 2 minutes. 4. Steps 2 to 3 were repeated 4 more times. *We tried to ensure that the same bird wasn't observed twice.
