Data and Analysis for: Specializing in order to generalize: fidelity to foraging areas is modulated by flexible fine-scale habitat use in Hudsonian Whimbrel (Numenius hudsonicus)
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the data and code to reproduce the analyses in Handmaker et al., "Specializing in order to generalize: fidelity to foraging areas is modulated by flexible fine-scale habitat use in Hudsonian Whimbrel (Numenius hudsonicus)." Data include GPS movement data of Whimbrel tracked during spring migratory stopover in South Carolina, USA from 2020-2023, as well as a habitat classification maps generated by the authors from remote sensing imagery that were used for all habitat specialization analyses in this study. The raw data used to create this map are publicly available and cited in the supporting information, and are not included here due to very large file sizes. Details of the habitat classification process can be found in the supplementary materials accompanying the manuscript. Also included in this dataset are the raw data collected during focal foraging observations of random Whimbrel at randomly selected sites, used in this study to assess tradeoffs in foraging effort, success, and vigilance behaviors between habitat types.
The zipped folder 'WHIM_habitat_specialization.zip' contains a complete R Project (.Rproj) with all R scripts and data files necessary to reproduce the analyses and figures in the manuscript. Begin by reading the instructions in the README file and then scripts can be run sequentially to reproduce all analyses and figures in the manuscript.
