Student Perspectives on Book Bans in a High School Educational Setting

This dataset contains survey responses collected from students within a high school educational setting, examining attitudes toward book bans in school libraries and curricula. The survey was designed to capture student perspectives on censorship, access to literature, and the perceived appropriateness of restricting certain books in academic environments. Responses were recorded using a combination of yes/no questions, binary selections, and open-ended questions. Yes/No questions for actions affected in their own lives. Multi-select responses have been disaggregated into individual binary variables. Open-ended responses are included in their original form with no substantive alteration beyond minor formatting standardisation. All data have been anonymised before publication. Any personally identifiable information, including names, email addresses, or other identifying markers, has been removed to protect participant privacy. The dataset reflects responses from a specific high school population and may not be representative of broader student populations. Responses are self-reported and may be influenced by personal bias or social desirability effects. There was a limited number of participants, and that can affect output.
