Does Social Security Coverage Shape Fertility Intentions? Evidence from the China General Social Survey

This study uses data from the 2023 China General Social Survey (CGSS), a nationally representative survey covering individuals’ demographic characteristics, socioeconomic status, family background, social attitudes, and participation in public services. The analysis focuses on respondents with valid information on fertility intentions, social security coverage, and related control variables. The main dependent variable is fertility intention, and the key explanatory variable is social security coverage. The dataset also allows for heterogeneity analysis across income groups, gender, urban-rural populations, and households with or without children.
