Soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50 000 — Large soil landscapes

The large soil landscapes (BGL) are landscape genetic or structural geological and morphologically recognizable spatial units with similar climatic conditions. Knowledge of the determining regionally effective features allows them to be used both in mapping and in the allocation of characteristic characteristics and characteristics. The large soil landscapes are thus aids for systematic soil mapping, description of soil shapes and quality assurance. In Lower Saxony, the following large soil landscapes are depicted: Islands, watts and coastal marches of the coastal holocene, the supra-regional river landscapes, floodplains and low terraces, valley sand sinks and prime stream valleys, geest slabs and end moraines of the Geest, Lössbörde and Bördenvorland of the mountain foreland, Löss basins and mountain ranges and submontanes and Montanes low mountains.
