Our objective was to implement shotgun metagenomic and metatranscriptomic sequencing to recover and characterize the genome of the uncultured, bryostatin-producing endosymbiont, Ca. Endobugula sertula, directly from host tissue. Dissected tissue (ovicells) of the marine invertebrate Bugula neritina, collected for Atlantic Bay, North Carolina.
