Profiling pig microglia gene expression

Microglia are thought to play a key role in brain in both homeostasis and diseases. The pig has been seen as an attractive, physiologically-relevant model for studying human neurological and mental disorders, as well as being an important agricultural species. Here we sought to characterise microglia markers genes for pigs. Compared the gene expression in FACs sorted macrophages (n=3), cerebellum microglia (n=8), frontal cortex microglia (n=8), hippocampal microglia (n=8) and hippocampal tissue (n=4).
