California Public Patient Discharge Data, January - December, 2003

The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) collects inpatient data from licensed hospitals in California. The dataset consists of a record for each inpatient discharged from a California licensed hospital, including general acute care, acute psychiatric, chemical dependency recovery, and psychiatric health facilities. Items recorded include type of care, demographics (some items are masked to protect privacy and confidentiality), admission details, length of stay, source(s) of payment, diagnosis, conditions and procedures. Because of the amount of data, the data is divided into three separate files; Los Angeles County, Southern California, Northern California.
