The Rare Earth Solvent Extraction Database System was established in 1987, primarily serving the separation of rare earth elements. The system mainly consists of two phases: the organic phase and the polar phase (i.e., the aqueous phase). During solvent extraction, the two phases are mixed and agitated, and the extracted components exhibit a distribution between the two phases. For instance, rare earth elements transfer from the aqueous phase to the organic phase, thereby enabling the separation of rare earths from other elements. The main data types stored in this database include neutral phosphorus-based extractants, amine-based extractants, carboxylic acid-based extractants, and extraction of organic acids. The data items cover extractant name, molecular formula, extracted components (metal elements and organic acids), polar phase (i.e., aqueous phase), diluent, auxiliary ligand, references, and other relevant information. The system supports both single-term retrieval and combined multi-term retrieval. Single-term retrieval includes options such as extractant name, extractant molecular formula, extracted elements, polar phase (i.e., aqueous phase), salting-out agent, diluent, saponifying agent, auxiliary ligand, and references. For combined multi-term retrieval, only records that satisfy all specified conditions will be retrieved. For example, when retrieving the extraction of cerium (a rare earth element) using tributyl phosphate (TBP) with hydrochloric acid as the polar phase, the system will first return all "hits" that meet these three criteria simultaneously. Users can view detailed relevant data via the "detail" function as required.
