Refugees on the Labour Market -Participation, Career and Adaption, 1989

The project's aim was to shed light on the following questions: If the theory of a dual labor market is valid for refugees? What connection is there between the first job and further working career. What role does the support (social security office, refugee reception, the employment service) play in the process of applying jobs for the refugees? What do factors as culture, education, class background, residence time in Norway and language knowledge mean for the refugees in their adaption to the working life? To what degree does psychosocial problems affected by escape, prison and torture the possibilities in the labor market? The data material consists of a questionnaire of 89 refugees and their adaption to the labor market.
