Monitoring of the Channel Tunnel construction phase 1987-90
收藏资源简介:
As part of an overall impact project, including studies of the invertebrates and rare plant species, vegetation recording was conducted adjacent to the construction sites for the coastal platform (sea-cliffs) and the terminal area (chalk grassland). i) Sixty-eight marked quadrats were recorded on the sea-cliffs in each year, half of these adjacent to the coastal platform, and half at sites beyond its predicted influence. ii) Forty-eight marked quadrats were recorded in each year on eight transects (each of six quadrats) arranged along the escarpment such that 36 were liable to be influenced by the construction works, whilst 12 were though to be beyond such influence. The cliff quadrats were marked using metal pegs, whilst those on the downland used wooden pegs.
