Climate Anomalies and Violent Environments (CAVE), 2018

This project investigated possible climate impacts on conflict dynamics. Three potential mechanisms between climate anomalies and conflict were studied: livelihood insecurity, food security and economic insecurity. The results showed that these mechanisms seem to affect the risk of new conflict only to a limited extent. On the other hand, several publications from the project showed how deteriorated living conditions and lost income can make ongoing conflicts more serious and prolonged.
