NRS-19382 | Vehicle Brochures [Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW]

This series contains vehicle brochures, manuals, pamphlets, letters. The brochures and other publications were provided by vehicle manufacturers as a requirement for the vehicles to be registered in New South Wales as this was done by each state separately at the time. This process ceased in the 1980s with federal registrations but some manufacturers continued to provide the information and, in some cases, RTA staff collected copies at motor shows or from vendors.A secondary purpose for the material was for cases where owners modified vehicles. The RTA and its predecessors needed to know original specifications to ensure modifications did not render vehicle unable to be registered.It is known that this is not a complete set as some brochures etc., have disappeared. No records were created setting out which brochures were obtained but it is believed to have been a comprehensive collection. The series is arranged alphabetically by vehicle manufacturer however, this is occasionally inconsistent.本系列藏品包含汽车宣传册、使用手册、传单及信函。彼时澳大利亚各州均独立办理车辆注册事宜，汽车制造商需提供此类宣传册及其他出版物，作为新南威尔士州车辆注册的必备材料。该注册流程于20世纪80年代随着联邦统一注册制度的推行而终止，但部分制造商仍持续提供相关资料；部分情况下，新南威尔士州交通局（Roads & Traffic Authority，RTA）工作人员会在车展或从供应商处收集此类副本。此类资料的另一用途，是用于车主改装车辆的相关场景。新南威尔士州交通局及其前身机构需掌握车辆原始技术规格，以确保改装后的车辆仍符合注册要求。已知本系列并非完整馆藏，部分宣传册等资料已遗失。虽未留存相关记录以明确已收集的宣传册品类，但据信本系列馆藏已较为全面。本系列按汽车制造商名称字母顺序编排，但偶尔存在编排不一致的情况。
