Displacements and State Building: The Use of Passports and the Administrative Evolution of the Johannine State in Brazil (1808-1822)

ABSTRACT The control of the displacement of people using passports at the beginning of the contemporary Era was a central activity in the effort to build the State. By studying the period comprised by the Johannine administration in Brazil (1808-22), the article presents a window to understand the evolution of the State, the international displacements of women and slaves from Rio de Janeiro and the diffuse feeling of national belonging in South America.摘要：近代伊始，通过护照管控人口流动是国家构建进程中的核心举措。本文以巴西若昂六世执政时期（1808-1822年）为研究对象，为理解国家治理的演进、里约热内卢地区女性与奴隶的跨国流动，以及南美大陆弥散的国家归属感提供了独特视角。
