Reaction of Os3(CO)12 (or Os3(CO)10(NCPh)2) with C60 in the benzonitrile/o-dichlorobenzene solution at reflux produces Os3(CO)5(μ-NCHPh)(μ3,η5-NCPhC60C(C6H4)N)(μ,η4-C60) (2) and Os3(CO)4(NCPh)(μ-NCHPh)(μ3,η5-NCPhC60C(C6H4)N)(μ,η4-C60) (3), bearing an unprecedented fullerodiketimide ligand from 1,4-addition of two benzonitrile molecules to the C60 cage.
