FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF PROPER NOUNS

This article examines the functional characteristics of proper nouns and their role within the language system. Proper nouns occupy a special place in linguistics as lexical units used to name and distinguish specific people, places, objects, historical events, and cultural phenomena. The study analyzes the main functions of proper nouns, including nominative, identificational, differential, expressive, stylistic, social, and cultural-cumulative functions. The article also highlights the pragmatic significance of proper nouns in modern linguistic research.
